50th Anniversary

Professor Scott Sheppard delivers address at 50th Anniversary.
Professor Scott Sheppard

On Saturday, 30 August our school celebrated its 50th anniversary. Professor Scott Sheppard, a former student, now Deputy Vice-Chancellor at QUT, gave the main address to a packed hall of current and former students and parents.

The support of parent volunteers, both on the day and in preparing for the event, was simply magnificent. It is part of what makes our school and community ‘special’, and a source of pride for everyone.

People really did demonstrate how they support learning, caring, and being team players. The range of activities and displays led to much interest and many comments.

One comment heard by a mother to their child was particularly precious. In the historical classroom, the mother lifted a small student timber and stone ‘writing slate’, and told her child, “See this, it’s the original iPad!” Truly our early pioneers in schools must have been very forward thinking!
